The Reverend Terri Stanford, Emmanuel’s 10 th Rector, joins us in March of 2008. Previously, she was at St. Chrysostom’s Episcopal Church in Chicago, Illinois, where she has been the Associate Rector since 2004. Since 2005, she has been the Chair of the Evangelism Commission for the Diocese of Chicago and also serves as the secretary to the Diocesan Council. A few highlights of her ministry and work:

Outreach Programs. From a monthly “Neighbors in Need” dinner program for low-income and homeless persons, to Central City Housing Ventures (a non-profit interfaith organization dedicated to providing low-income housing in Chicago), to Bible Study at Lawrence Hall Youth Services, to programs for persons with AIDS, Reverend Terri has been a facilitator and a hands-on participant in a variety of outreach projects, bearing witness to the Holy Spirit at work in our World;

Congregational Growth and Development. Reverend Terri has been part of building newcomer and visitor ministries, has designed and implemented a “greeter” program for Sunday services, and is studying for a Doctor of Ministry in Congregational Development at Seabury-Western Seminary in Evanston;

Christian Formation. An enthusiastic teacher and leader in classes for all ages, Reverend Terri has taught in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program (ages 3-9), has served as a Chaplain to St. Chrysostom’s Day School, has led teen and adult confirmation classes, and has led adult bible study;

Problem Solving. Drawing on a 31-year career at Bell South, Reverend Terri has an ability to help manage change and to facilitate common sense solutions to everyday projects. When larger problems arise, Reverend Terri has a unique combination of warmth, direct and open communication, and just the right pastoral touch.

Terri is married -- her husband David is also an Episcopal priest in Chicago. They are in the process of settling into a new home in La Grange and are excited about living in the community. When they are not working, Terri and David enjoy cooking, music, theatre and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

The Rev. John Dolan has been a Deacon at Emmanuel Episcopal Church since February 1996 and John and his wife Karen have been active members of Emmanuel for the past twenty six years. Deacon John has been a resident of Western Springs for almost thirty years, has been married to Karen for thirty two years, and has two grown children Michelle and David, and one grandchild, Elizabeth.

John is a British Chartered Accountant (CPA) and is self employed as a healthcare consultant specializing as a financial adviser to physician practices.

Deacon John was raised in the Cathedral Parish of Llandaff in Wales and Emmanuelites hear many stories of Wales in his homilies. John still has many connections to Llandaff and has assisted at Llandaff Cathedral as a “visiting Episcopal Deacon” on a number of occasions.

Deacon Bill Rimkus has been married to Rebekah Totts Rimkus for thirty-two years and is the father of five children. He was ordained a Deacon in 1987 and has served in that capacity first at St. Dunstan’s in Westchester and, in 2002, when St. Dunstan’s closed its doors, at Emmanuel.

After a long career as a bakery plant manager, Deacon Bill is self-employed and is currently working as a court-appointed federal monitor where he helps to oversee fair hiring at the City of Chicago. In his spare time, Deacon Bill is an accomplished artist.
